CMON at San Diego Comic-Con

San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) started in 1970 when a group of friends banded together to bring the first comic book convention to Southern California. The first single-day event drew about 100 attendees, featured two special guests, and was successful enough to give the organizers the confidence to plan a bigger show. From that point, almost 50 years ago, SDCC has become the premiere event for not just comic book fans, but fans of all aspects of geek culture. Recent attendance numbers reached well over 100,000 people, with fans travelling to the show from around the world.

This year’s SDCC runs from July 19-22 at the San Diego Convention Center, and CMON will be there! Attendees can come by booth #4928 to try out some of our hottest new titles.

In Gizmos, players become students competing in the annual science fair. They will need to make smart decisions and create inventive machines if they want to come out on top. If they can find a way to synergize the gizmos they create, it will lead to powerful actions and dynamic turns. Players can stop by the booth to try out Gizmos, the new title by Phil Walker-Harding.

How do you let go of the past? By building something new! In Dragon Castle, the old palace is crumbling and the Elder Dragon has fled. Players must take tiles from the ruins and build a new Dragon Castle worthy of the respect of the Elder Dragon. Only one player will lure the honorable creature to their palace and attract people from far and wide to their realm.

If there was ever a perfect game for SDCC, it has to be Kick-Ass: The Board Game. Based on the award-winning comic book by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr., players become superheroes like Kick Ass, Hit Girl, and Big Daddy. They work together to defend New York City from the nefarious plot of a supervillain, while also trying to balance the hot mess that is their real life. Players have to work together to find a way to save the day, without losing their relationships or falling into a depression. This superhero business can be tricky!

With new CMON titles to try out, and a retail section with some of the hottest games around, booth #4928 will be a necessary stop for attendees of SDCC. We’ll see you there!
